User experience and the narrative according to the new plan

It is normal for the online user to engage superficially from an emotional point of view with
any video content on the web, especially when a production lasts for only a few minutes.
But, if the content is meaningful enough and well presented and cleverly organised
in order to trigger certain emotions and cause moods or behaviours, then a short video
can often prove to be more effective than a 2 hours documentary on the same subject.
We will obviously start up with a sense of pertenece and familiarity. The user
will be able to identify him/herself with the location, habits, interests and memorable events,
by being presented to the general current context of deforestations around the world
and hen slowly, to a “travel journal”-like succession of images from holidays in Transylvania.
The jump into our topic will be made through an analogy between the bodies impaled by Count
Dracula with blood dripping on tree trunks and the blood dripping on the wood logs shed by
the civilians who defend the forests from a corrupt system. Very powerful images with a strong
emotional impact. The video will also include short statements pertaining to main activists in this field from Romania. To conclude we will try to communicate the idea that this is an ongoing issue
by inserting images from most recent protest against illegal deforestations.

Plan for the Exhibition

The interaction between the user and the computer interface is by far more ample than
the one with a TV screen, hence the decision to use a laptop for the exhibition presentation.
A small room will be installed. The inside space will contain (all around) a mesmerising
forest decor, with real tree branches obtained from a recycling centre and
dimmed green stage lights.
In the middle of this, a freshly cut thick tree trunk with fake blood dripping from the cut.
(same as in the video’s promotional poster displayed next to the entrance into the room)
Sitting on the trunk will be a laptop with the video playing on loop.
